Friday night girl Thai-me this week was spent at The Nuaa. My girl friends and I were looking to try out something tasty and different so we decided to check out this Upper East Side gem on 1st Ave. and boy was it a great discovery.
Upon walking into the hidden gem, that seemed pretty exclusive once arrived, I didn’t know what to expect. When I finally walked in my eyes actually widened. I was amazed with the all glided ornate gold décor and big comfy leather chairs. I felt like I was transported to another planet, like really felt like I was in the movie Aladin. And normally I wouldn’t talk about the bathroom situation, especially at restaurants, but this one is oddly worth talking about. Can’t speak for the men's room but the women’s bathroom actually has the coolest sink I have ever seen. It starts at the ceiling, with the water tripping down leaves all the way to the bottom. Washing my hands felt like a novelty.
But enough about the décor, and especially about the bathroom..
Normally, I am a very picky Thai eater, only because I never really know what to order. So I let my friends do the ordering. We decided to get a couple plates and share, starting with the purple blossom dumplings, fried calamari, lemongrass curry chicken sate, and blue shrimp dumplings, which were nicely portioned and super tasty.
For our main course we shared their famous Pad Thai jumbo tiger prawn (my favorite!) and Slow braised short rib massaman curry.
The place was super sexy and the service was on point. Not all of our plates were gluten free, but I was fine with that considering we were all sharing (I hate being that girl). Overall, I totally recommend The Nuaa for anyone going for an upscale, modern Asian/Thai dinner.
